A grand gala concert was dedicated to the legendary performer, featuring his friends and colleagues. Sergei Leiferkus made his debut at the Mikhailovsky Theatre 54 years ago. His interpretations of Don Giovanni, Boris Godunov, and Baron Scarpia have become benchmark performances for generations of singers. During the festive evening, the master presented a gift to his admirers. International fame came to the artist in the early 1980s, when he made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Sergei Leiferkus has collaborated with such theatres as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Vienna State Opera, and has taken part in festivals in Edinburgh, Bregenz, and Salzburg. To this day, he continues to work with leading symphony orchestras and outstanding conductors. The singer’s vocal longevity inspires admiration among fans, colleagues, and students. Today, Sergei Leiferkus’s voice can be heard in the productions La Traviata and La Bohème. He gives masterclasses and teaches both in Russia and abroad.
