Anna Efremova
Costume and set designer. Visual artist
I graduated from the Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design, Faculty of Monumental Art, in 2013. During my studies, I actively participated in collective art exhibitions held at venues such as the Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art and the Saint Petersburg Union of Artists. From 2012 to 2014, I studied Scenography at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts (Florence, Italy) under the guidance of Professor Massimo Mattioli. My set design sketches formed the foundation of the scenography for the dramatic production "Mandragola", staged at the Teatro Moderno Tavarnuzze in Florence in 2014. In 2015, I completed an internship at Tirelli Costume Atelier (Rome, Italy) — one of the leading workshops specializing in historical costumes for theatre and film. During this experience, I contributed to the creation of costumes for renowned Italian artists including Carlo Poggioli, Gabriella Pescucci, and Massimo Cantini Parrini. In 2017, I joined the Mikhailovsky Theatre as a costume supervisor. In this role, I have contributed to over 17 productions, most notably The "Barber of Seville" (dir. Eric Vigie), "Iolanta" (dir. Andriy Zholdak), "The Oprichnik" (dir. Sergei Novikov), the ballets "La Bayadère" and "Hidalgo de la Mancha" (chor. Nacho Duato), as well as "Swan Lake" and "Cinderella" (chor. Mikhail Messerer). In 2022, I began working as a costume designer, creating the costumes for "Die Fledermaus" (dir. Yulia Prokhorova). In 2024, I joined the creative team of Vladimir Kekhman and Yulia Prokhorova, designing costumes for "Eugene Onegin", "La Bohème", and "The Queen of Spades" at the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Mikhailovsky Theatre. I create ballet costumes for galas both in Russia and abroad, including the ballet evening "Premiere of Premieres" at the Zaryadye Concert Hall in Moscow, as well as the chamber ballets "Le Corsaire" and "Giselle for the Tokyo Ballet". I actively collaborate with various theatre institutions, including the Alexandrinsky Theatre, the Gorky Moscow Art Theatre, the Pushkin Theatre Centre, and others.
